Creating a digital culture of care: COVID-19 and digital teaching

In this summer program, preservice teachers are recruited to work with children from the community and mentored closely by two faculty members who literacy education professors. This allows candidates learn mentors their peers, a proven model for effective field experiences. Despite research being done on remote learning due COVID-19, factors dictating necessity of caring classrooms—such as systemic inequities mental health’s impact student achievement—are more prevalent than ever missing literature. The findings qualitative case study indicate need intentional in programs creating digital classrooms. also immediacy health concerns digitally COVID-19.
